The most effective way to determine challenges to comfort and energy efficiency of your home is with one or more of the following diagnostic services. Each diagnosis is executed by a trained professional and will result in detailed information about your home’s energy use as well as possible solutions to energy, comfort, durability, health, and safety problems.
There are substantial government incentives for homeowners and contractors, often resulting in virtually free diagnostic services. Visit my Government Incentives section.
Free Energy Savings Visit
The purpose of this visit is to get a basic understanding of your energy challenges and opportunities, discuss Home Performance Programs, and review current Federal, State, Local and/or Utility incentives that may be available. By the end of this visit we should be able to determine if a Comprehensive Home Assessment would be beneficial given your specific needs.
Determining this is based both upon the energy savings opportunity and gaining an understanding your plans and goals. Annual energy use, operational habits, occupancy, as well as your feelings and expectations of comfort and how long you plan on staying all need to be reviewed to determine the scale of this opportunity for you. Air Quality Testing
Air quality is paramount for folks with allergies, asthma, or other environmental health issues. The air quality test is a simple, three-day test that tracks indoor quality, indicating the severity of home air quality issues. This “AirAdvice” is an available diagnostic tool for these situations. Duct Efficiency Testing
It is easier to breathe through a pipe than through a straw. It is the same with a house’s ducts. A furnace’s ability to breathe efficiently is dependent upon proper duct size and design.
If warranted, duct diagnostics may be a recommended course of action in addition to the Comprehensive Home Assessment as sometimes it is necessary to get a better understanding of your duct work’s effectiveness. To read more, click here.
Thermal Imaging
A thermal imaging camera can help with more specific heat loss issues. Have an area with ice damming problems? Any other area specific problems? Thermal imaging diagnostics might be recommended for diagnosing and pinpointing root of such problems. To read more, click here.
