Basically, it’s a physical for your home. It shows where your house is in balance, where it’s not, and what you can do about it.

For most homeowners, energy audits are now free. In Monroe County, if your income is above $133,500 they want you to pay $50. If this applies to you, mention this ad and we’ll waive your portion of the fee (limited to first 10 audits)

New York’s Green Jobs Green NY program provides free audits for homeowners who’s gross family income is below 200% of their county average.
For MONROE COUNTY homeowners with income up to $133,500 audits are fully paid for by the program until funds run out. At $133,500, and for every $50,000 beyond that, the portion of the audit fee NY pays for drops by 20%.
For this promotion we will assist you with the application,
AND, if it turns out you don’t qualify for a 100% free audit, WE will pick up the difference!

AUDIT PROCESS:
- Apply for the free/reduced cost audit. This requires completing a one page application, gathering at least one years energy history, and including a recent energy bill. We are happy to assist at any point, call 585 318-0580.
- Click HERE for the form and a handy chart for entering your monthly usage.
- Click HERE for screen shots/instructions for getting your RG&E energy history, which can simply be cut/pasted to an e-mail if you don’t want to enter it in the chart. Click the blue triangle to navigate to other pictures.
- Click HERE to go to RG&E’s Create Login page. YOU NEED YOUR ACCOUNT NUMBER TO GAIN ONLINE ACCESS. RG&E does not have the most intuitive website, so feel free to contact us if you want help.
- Usually within a week you will receive notification of approval and a reservation number. IT IS THIS RESERVATION NUMBER THAT PAYS FOR YOUR AUDIT.
- Once the reservation is approved we schedule the audit.
- The audit entails a homeowner interview, diagnostic testing, measuring, health and safety testing and inspection of your home.
- Data gathered is entered into a software package which calculated the energy use of your home’s model.
- Actual energy use is compared to the model and adjusted to show an accurate picture of your home’s current energy picture.
- Improvement options are modeled for energy savings and the software calculates cost/benefit analysis of the various improvement options. This is often very helpful in prioritizing improvements when all measures are not within the homeowners budget or do not fit in with your plans and objectives.
- A Comprehensive Home Assessment report is delivered to the homeowner. This report helps the homeowner understand and prioritize energy saving/comfort improvement opportunities specific to their situation.
