Incentives

We are going through a period of unprecedented incentives.  There are federal and state tax credits, NYSERDA incentives, and utility rebates available that cover as much as 40% of the cost of energy efficient improvements.  Significant additional incentives exist for more progressive improvements such as wind power, solar power, and geothermal heating.  These programs are well worth it if you don’t get lost trying to figure them out.  To save significant time and avoid getting discourage it is often useful to talk with someone familiar with these programs.

For Landlords

There are great programs available to help landlords take a comprehensive look at energy savings opportunities.  There are fee upgrades through EMPOWER and matching grants up to $10,000 and low interest financing from Home Performance with Energy Star.  Cutting energy costs by 70% through these programs is not unheard of.  Energy modeling allows quantification and prioritization of improvements BEFORE the work is done, removing guesswork.

For Homeowners

There are great programs available to help landlords take a comprehensive look at energy savings opportunities.  There are fee upgrades through EMPOWER, matching grants up to $5,000 and low interest financing from Home Performance with Energy Star.  Cutting energy costs by 70% through these programs is not unheard of. Energy modeling allows quantification and prioritization of improvements BEFORE the work is done, removing guesswork.

For EMPOWER

Unlike HPwES where the property owner choses the Accredited contractor, EMPOWER controls the process including which contractor does the work.  So they need to be contacted directly.
